I'm running firefox 1.5. I'll try playing the samples standalone if I
can figure out how.

Have you tried playing the movies under the standalone player ? I know
other folks are using Gnash on the AMD64, so my other question is what
version is your browser ? It has to be Firefox 1.5 or Mozilla SeaMonkey
to work as a plugin.
