Actually, I did the job of backportinge Gnote to GTK+ 2.12 already (so that it would work on gNewSense metad). I just built & tested gnote 0.5.2-1 on gNewSense i386, and it seems to work fine. There's also Solang, which is a new development and seems to be popular these days (also worth noting it's GPLv3). But I don't use this kind of software either.
