I've used Ekiga 3.2.7 and it was stable enough to make phone calls. It was few months ago (I think February or the beginning of March, 2013). However, I had problems with the most recent version compiled from source against my custom software stack (segmentation faults were quiet popular those days). I have no experience with GNU SIP Witch, but I'll try to look at the git repository during my "free time" window.
