Sorry. I may not have been too attentive. And am inexperienced in
package management. Maintaining such a package may indeed be more work
than I imagined.
There needs to be security updates, support, etc.
But I'd still suggest we use either the Debian, or the GNU IceWeasel
option. We could just purge Firefox from the system, and let it be at
that, but most people expect Firefox, or something Firefox-ish to be on
the system.
I'll be thinking about figuring out other, easier solutions. But I have
doubts that they can be found.
I may still consider joining a team, if it gets to maintaining our own
package. But I'm just not sure if I have the time, or an appropriate
amount experience for it.

(On that note, would a "hack", like adding firefox-bin symlinks
pointing to the iceweasel binary to the package be acceptable? Any
other program which then wants firefox specifically, gets IceWeasel
instead. It's not extremely "nice", but it would probably work well
enough).
If it's not a lot of work, I might volunteer to maintain it. But I'll
need to learn a thing or two about creating deb packages, then.
Amazingly, in all the time I've used Debian, I never got around to
doing that. :)
