I know of people who still read their mail using /bin/mail. Like I said, people get very attached to their email clients. Telling them they should "upgrade anyway" is (1) often not a fun prospect and (2) not very considerate of the user. Again, I was not trying to argue anyone out of using SSL; I was just pointing out options.
