There's two ways. (I chose the latter):
* Send the info to an email address associated with your web
server, and extract the info using procmail.
* Install and use jical (http://jical.sourceforge.net/) -
actually, I think I had to write a script that used ssh to
transfer the updates to the web site whenever the calendar was
updated.

Not a stupid question; not covered in any meetings I've attended. You
probably have more experience than most others.
To be honest, I forgot that it used email to update the free/busy info,
for some reason, I thought it used ftp/sftp, but I was probably
confusing that with jical.

I would highly recommend doing that if its an option. I believe you need
the latest version of evolution to use the free Ximian Connector though.
Most distributions don't have that version included.
