SOFTWARE ASSOCIATION OF NH OPENS NOMINATIONS FOR NEW AWARDS Durham, NH, September 12, 2005. The Software Association of New Hampshire (SwANH) announced the opening of nominations for its annual information technology awards at http://www.swanh.org. The SwANH Awards will be presented at the 11th annual SwANH InfoXchange conference on October 6, 2005 at the Wayfarer Inn in Bedford, NH (www.swanh.org/infoxchange) Each year SwANH recognizes leaders in New Hampshire's software and information technology industries. In previous years, SwANH has given the Rookie of the Year and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards. These awards celebrated a company new to the industry and a company that has proven its leadership in the industry. This year, SwANH is moving to highlight the necessary interaction between academia and industry to and our state's global leadership in these industries. It is carrying out this effort by introducing two new awards: The Outstanding Educational Program Award and The Information & Computer Technology (ICT) Global Business of the Year Award. The Outstanding Educational Program will celebrate the educational organization that has developed and implemented an outstanding college-level outreach program and provided quality educational services in New Hampshire in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and/or Information Technologies. Rivier College Associate Professor of Computer Science Vladimir Riabov, Ph.D. who suggested the idea for this award said, "I strongly believe in success of the Award activities that result in building a vital bond between the industry and colleges." The Information & Computer Technology (ICT) Global Business, given jointly by SwANH and the New Hampshire International Trade Association (NHITA) will recognize the company whose trade relationships (e.g. strategic alliances or sales) have created higher sales, more jobs, boosted their profitability, and increased the image of the NH software or information technology industry. NHITA Executive Director Alice Bruckner said "I hope the SWANH award is the first in a series of industry-specific awards that help business associations in New Hampshire increase their awareness of global potential for expansion and growth." With ever increasing global competition, New Hampshire IT professionals and companies are struggling to succeed. Chairman of the SwANH Board, James McKim states, "These awards will raise the visibility of this issue so critically important to our state's economic welfare and leadership. They will support and enhance our efforts to maintain a globally competitive Information Technology workforce providing examples of how people and organizations can have a positive impact on our industry." The Software Association of NH is a non-profit organization representing over 1400 IT industry professionals throughout the State. SwANH sponsors networking events, educational programs through its SIGs and affiliates, and discount programs that provide members with opportunities to gain information, connect with resources, grow their businesses, and succeed.
