Having finally had it with TDS (at the moment they've fixed their spam origination problems: they've made an adjustment which makes it impossible to use their SMTP) I decided to do what I should have done a long time ago: use someone who know what they're doing. That's MV Communications. They already host my incoming mail (nn years now), and a phone call to Tech Support quickly yielded the necessary details for using my MV account for outgoing SMTP as well. I found the tab in Claws Mail, entered my username and password, by the Ed Lawson Method GUI Method(tm) found that it's the Advanced tab which has a cell to enter the SMTP port number, and thought I was off to the races. (Not so. It took two more days, and looking at log files, and more of the ELGM(tm) ... to find that there's ANOTHER tab, upon which there's another button, which you have to click if you want Claws to actually USE the things you've entered on the other two tabs. The more I find out about GUIs the more I like textual config files... :) Quibbles aside, Sylpheed, er, Claws, does have all the features one could ask for. I've just noticed that it does RSS feeds, and of course GPG, download-info headers, a Dillo plugin,... -Bill P.S. Another plug for MV Communcations's Tech Support. They were outstanding.
