All,
I attended the 'Web Best Practices' presentation last night that someone
forwarded from the EFNH list. After the meeting, I spoke with the
presenter for a few minutes, and he mentioned that all National Guard
armories around the state are having videoconferencing systems installed
at government expense. Part of the deal is that they make these systems
available to the public when not needed for training purposes.
There are 21 armories in the state of NH; currently 5 have been set up.
The links are T1 point-to-point, so no bandwidth sharing. UNH is, I
believe, also a hub, so they could possibly set up downstream-only
feeds for people who can't get out of the house for some reason.
Not something we'd need/want every meeting, but if a group gets a really
good speaker (maddog or Linus, for example :), other groups could tie in
via the nearest NG post.
The person to contact for more information is James Isaak, VP of
Technical Activities for the IEEE Computer Society. His email is
