Hello Everyone
Here is the scoop. The school is doing some reorganizing to accommodate some
new computers that they just bought. I spent a few hours last night and
tonight moving, installing, shuffling, yadda, yadda, yadda. This is a "TO
COMPLETION" job for them. They will pick up tomorrow morning(8:00 AM) and
keep going until its is done including Sunday and Monday. Their goal is to
at least have their regular labs back up and on line NLT Monday for classes.
Currently they are about 80% done. Our room is about 50% done. The school
still needs some OSs reinstalled on a few more of their machines. Our room
is set up with tables and computers. They dropped a LAN line into the room
and currently have a hub sitting on the table with a few unconnected wires
laying around. We can use the hub or set up one of their nice switched. I
put all the computers together tonight and now we need to DISINFECT
them(i.e.: remove NT/98 and install Linux!). We need also need to make a few
more CAT 5 cables and connect into their LAN.
But wait there is more! After we get all the computers up and running we
have MAJOR clean up and reorganization of their storage room to do. I think
that we can get their labs up easily by Monday(most likely tomorrow). Our
room and the clean-up/reorganization will go into Sunday and maybe Monday. I
know I was originally talking about helping next week, but your efforts
tomorrow and or Sunday is when we need you the most.
So bring some elbow grease and your Linux disks(otherwise you will be stuck
with me installing Mandrake 6.1) and come on over to the school this
weekend. I'm 99% pretty sure that they will be ordering pizza for all able
bodies.
