WOW!!! Sounds like a great event!
We've got a world-class speaker list and big-league sponsors to go
along with them, now we've just got to make sure the rest of the
show is at the same level of professionalism that we've attained so
far (I'd say "or higher" except I don't think there's much room for
improvement, just maintain the consistent quality! :-)
I like SLUG's business demo concept, and we need a desktop
demo (or maybe two, to show both Applix and StarOffice).
It's very important to keep the demos tightly focused, so we
shouldn't confuse things by trying to do or show too much else.
If those three demos are really nailed perhaps we might add a basic
net server with Samba and email, but showing prime-time quality
is more important than showing every half-baked piece of code
we can find. If we show two or three really professional packages
the audience will believe us that others exist even if they don't see
them all, while showing mediocre demos will just make the audience
think that free software is worth the price.
BTW, I hear SLUG.com is already in business showing things
we don't want to demo, so what's our business going to be,
Tux.com?
It's impossible for me to schedule Tuesdays or Thursdays so
I missed last night's meeting and won't be able to attend
either of the GNHLUG meetings tomorrow. I mailed some
hardcopy to Lori that might help with the demo project, and
I definitely want to be a part of that project, so would there
be any chance of having demo work sessions on some other
night, or on the weekends? Saturdays, starting around noon,
would be my ideal preference... THANKS!
