First off let me say how sorry I am to see Lori leaving. I feel that
I am in some way responsible for the added pressures of the SLUG on
Lori. Let me explain a little.

Since there has been a SLUG, we've attempted to split meetings between
Durham and Portsmouth. I large number of these meetings have been
canceled, many more of which have gone on with short notice and small
attendance. I'm responsible for most of the short notice meetings and
some of the cancellations.

I have been the speaker for most of the short notice meetings. With
the low attendance and lack of talk ideas on my part, I started to
wonder if I was leading or pushing. If I was leading a SLUG then
there should be followers, if not perhaps I'm pushing off in the wrong
direction? I remember a quote from some CEO that said you should look
behind you every once in a while to see if anybody is following. I
didn't see anybody behind me.

I've been traveling a little more and a few of the last years meetings
I have not been in NH on the meeting dates. That's when I started
noticing that there seemed to be nobody else. The only person who
ever asked if we had meetings coming up was Suzanne.

I think we need a membership drive here on campus, at this point it
would likely make the most sense to push hard in the fall when classes
start up again. I'm willing to help out and continue on as chair of
SLUG. I'm hoping to get some more local users involved and have some
backup support when needed.

I see the role as supporting a local linux community. If we have a
local community in need of support, I'm afraid the SLUG has not been
reaching it. I second our GNHLUG chair, in stating this is not the
beginning of a downward spiral. At worst case this was a LUG that
limped along for a couple of years without enough local community to
actually get going. It can't be said that we didn't give it a good
run.
