If the decided upon route is to get a new domain name, I have a suggestion. Keep the heck away from NSI.
I've had wonderful luck with register.com myself. They have online (web based) management that doesn't make you want to tear your hair out, the updates are performed quickly, and the one and only time I had a problem, it was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
