>>> What would be super-cool would be a Linux system demoing radio software.

That might have to be Rob Anderson's doing. Unfortunately, I don't have
a packet station set up, let alone one with a computer involved, and
frankly, it would take a fair amount of work to get it going by that
weekend. (I have a KPC-9612 and a Yaesu FT-736R and could cobble up
a cowabunga 2m stacked vertical on a mast, but I would need a lot of
help integrating and testing it before May 2nd - not much time!!)
[N.B. - my shack is in the basement, but the computer room is on
the ground floor...]

I could probably bring my new system (Asus A7M266-D running a pair
of MP1800+'s, 1GB of PC2100, 18GB of U3 disk, Matrox G550) if someone
can bring a decent monitor or flat screen and the applications of
choice... I have SuSE 8.0 Professional on order and it should be here
in a day or two (if the release went as scheduled/announced) and I
will have that installed and running by _this_ weekend. It's in a
short/squat mini tower box with casters. It's also got USB2.0 and
a (all rise) DE500-BA 10/100MB Ethernet card (beseated) in it so far.

If someone has a USB camera (a good one, not a knothole camera) that
could do 1024x768 (or even 800x600) real-time, that might be a
sufficiently cool demo.

only the unknown dupes for which I now apologize :-)
