It should work just fine as a web server, and definitely as a gateway (I'm
setting up my old 486 as my firewall/router/gateway). Also, DNS server,
possibly a light duty file server, etc. SPARC 10 is 32 bit, I believe, but
fairly powerful.

I don't have a problem keeping it, but, since it belongs to GNHLUG, I didn't
feel comfortable holding on to it, if the group could use it (possibly as the
redirector or list server for gnhlug.org?)

Well, I'm not familiar with the various SPARC models, so I can't tell
how
powerful it is. But, would it be useful as a web server or a gateway to
a network? I'm thinking that any non-Intel platform in that role might
reduce
the susceptibility to virii and some other types of attacks. Just a
thought...
