I wanted to create "public" pages that any of us could modify. And then I discovered some features in the new TWiki that would allow us to do that (templates). So I tried it out, using the pages hosted at appropriate solutions.
It appears to work, but I feel like I'm working in a vacuum here and haven't gotten any feedback from the usual "naysayers". So I'm moving to the next step, which is to make www.gnhlug.org point to the new TWiki "public" pages. However, because I don't want to disrupt that which currently works, I'm using www2.gnhlug.org (its handy being the DNS master for the domain). And I've run into some problems, so until those are fixed, www.gnhlug.org will remain at Appropriate Solutions. For the long term, (and if this TWiki-based modification mechanism works), we'll probably move the www.gnhlug.org pages to wherever the TWiki is being hosted. Originally, that was A.S., but got moved to CodeMeta when it became evident the A.S. supplied passwords weren't going to work for the community. So, to make a long story short: the pages will eventually be hosted by CodeMeta. Assuming no one else comes forward and unless A.S. wants to host the gnhlug-org TWiki again - but I don't think that will happen given the earlier security implications for A.S. --Bruce PS: I'm CC-ing gnhlug-org so others will be aware of the decision-making rationale here.
