All,
Now that I'm back from vacation, I'm reviewing the mailing list options
available to us before I cut over to the new lists. Below I've noted a
few differences from the old list behavior and the new. Any questions
or comments about these or any other operating behaviors, speak up. If
no one has objections, I'd like to populate the lists and make the move
by weeks end.
For announce:
- Only named individuals can post announcements without administrative
approval - all others get reviewed. Current short list is me, Paul,
and Bruce. Let me know of others to add.
- Digest mode is disabled, as posts are infrequent and probably need
to get out ASAP.
For discuss:
- Users can now choose to receive the list in digest form. How well
replies to a digest work will remain to be seen.
- No more 'gnhlug_post'! Members on this list will be added to the
discuss list with the nomail option set.
For both:
- Monthly password reminders will be sent out to all subscribers.
These are used to gain access to the mailman web UI and modify
ones subscription settings (for example, disable delivery when
on vacation rather than unsubscribe).
In keeping with old list behavior:
- The 'Reply-To:' field for announce is set to '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'
- The 'Reply-To:' field for discuss is not set (replies go to poster)
- discuss will be subscribed to announce
