I have not been able to figure out how to get mailman to do that. 

Part of the problem is that gnhlug.org is virtual hosted, and in order
to avoid collision with other customers who also want a "discuss" list,
it needs to identify itself as gnhlug-discuss. 

But that's only part of the problem. The other part is that mailman
can't be configured (at least I haven't figured out how) to use an alias
for the list name - it insists on using the FQLN (Fully Qualified List
Name) at most places.

Sigh.
