Bruce,

The 'sponsor' thing is probably a little too strong, but I can take a
look around and see what I can scrounge up.

As far as talking about Oracle stuff with regards to Linux, I could
probably chat a bit about it. I would say that there are two possible
conversations: Technology and Marketing.

The basics are this from a technology front (which is what I work on):

Oracle has three pieces of 'core technology':

The database, the application server, and the development tools suite.

I work on the application server team, specifically on Oracle9iAS Portal
which is a component of the application server. Thus I could probably
talk most intelligently about that.

I could also talk about our strategy in the middle tier generically
(which applies to Linux because we make our software available on
Linux).

With a PC set up for internet access I could log into some systems and
show demonstrations of Oracle9iAS Portal.

All of this software is the 'hey give us money if you use it for
production systems' kind of software. On the other hand it is all 'free
for the taking' from our web site if you want to play/learn on your own
(no keys or timeouts or anything like that). *

On the marketing front, like specific details on our Linux strategy
(distros, futures, etc.), I would have to corner some of the Linux folks
here and get a briefing which I could then deliver.

Let me know if either subjects are of interest to anyone.

Also remember that I do live out here on the left coast now, so this is
kind of a 'special one time offer'. I'll be in the Nashua area from the
15th through the 27th. I don't mind taking a night or two out of my
vacation to talk to Linux folks.

Assume the standard speaking fee applies: At least one free glass of
beer!

Rich
