I think a discussion of the H1-B visas is better suited to the SwANH
conference, which will take place in Manchester on October 9th. SwANH
supports a Consultants Forum and a Software Presidents Forum, so they
have SIGs that potentially represent both sides of the issue.

The topic of how the Dean campaign uses the Internet is fine for eCoast
or SwANH, given that we long ago transcended the need for an Internet
SIG. (Everybody has to be interested in the Internet nowadays.) I'm not
sure how innovative the Dean campaign has been; some of the best success
stories may remain hidden.

BTW, GNSEG is having a great next-generation-Internet topic on Tuesday
night (October 7) in Nashua.

The main thing about Lori's original invite that set off an alarm is the
request for an RSVP against a supposed limit of 50 people. Most of these
weeknight tech meetings don't get anywhere near 50, and I think a 3:30
meeting would have worse attendance than a 7:30. There should have been
a promise that the RSVP contact info would *not* be made available to
the Dean campaign. The standard for most tech meetings that don't have
a fee (GNSEG, GNHLUG, most SwANH, most eCoast) is no RSVP needed, so any
such request is suspect.
