The Summer Summit 2005 was a great success, in my opinion.

1. A few far-flung chapter co-ordinators got to meet the rest of the crew. After the Great Diaspora, it was good to reconnect all the dots, match faces to names, and learn a bit of history about what GNHLUG has been and what it can be.

2. I think a real breakthrough was in our discussions to define what GNHLUG is. Instead of claiming that we are an organization that teaches or advocates or whatever, we proposed that GNHLUG is an organization that provides the infrastructure for its members to run events, perform community service, provide technical support, and so forth. Defining GNHLUG as the framework off of which volunteers can hang their projects really seems to capture an essential part of what the group "should be" in my opinion.

3. As a follow-up to that resolution, some volunteers in the group feel that having a non-profit legal entity status could open some opportunities for the group. This should in no way interfere with others use of the group, whether fraternal, social, networking, support or otherwise. We are emphatic that meetings, like Source, should be Open to all! Ed Lawson is in the process of drawing up the documents for the first step, getting GNHLUG made a New Hampshire registered non-profit organization. Following that, we can work on more formal procedures to make the organization federally (IRS) recognized: by-laws, budgets, and so forth.

I hope to be able to call for a meeting of all interested volunteers soon to get the first step done, perhaps coinciding with a meeting if possible.

3. Twiki: Bruce Dawson has put some significant effort into upgrading the Twiki. Comments are welcomed, as Bruce posted:

"No comments" are considered acceptance, so get your digs in now.

4. TaskMaster: Heather Brodeur has volunteered to work with chapter co-ordinators to help get meetings planned earlier and announcements out soon. Thank you, Heather! Please let us know what we can do to help.

5. Hosting: Bruce has had some discussions with MV and they may be willing to let us host the spare server Ben has so that we can expand our web offerings. Great news! Thanks, Bruce for pursuing this, and Ben for offering the server.

Fall's upon us, and that means some exciting opportunities! Hosstraders is coming up quick - 4 weeks away. Gather that stuff in the cellar and see what you can sell, barter or give away. SwaNH's InfoeXchange is the day before Hosstraders. Some GNHLUG volunteers are trying to arrange a presence there, as well.

More news as we make it!
