Yes and it would, in a perfect world, also mean the speakers
would show up as announced, etc. However, as the current
situation demonstrates we do not inhabit such a world.

The question then is, what do you do? Postponing the meeting to
till a time when the "big" speaker can show up really disrupts
the flow of all the chapter meetings, those who had planned on
going to the meeting with the "big" name, and other
organizations which may have also planned on the "big" speaker
being at a specific place and time. My suggestion is that if
another "big" name speaker cannot be obtained for the announced
time and date, then a substitute speaker from the ranks be used.

While I wholeheartedly agree the best situation is to have a
"big" name speaker and I do not mean to belittle the concept, we
need to have a fallback plan to enable the meeting to be held
when and where it has been announced to be and with content that
will interest many. Especially when other organizations have
bought into the program.

Of course nothing should be announced until all the loose ends
are tied up and it is reasonable to assume the "big" name speaker
has the time and date blocked off and will be there absent some
unforeseen event.
