So how to we get Ben off the hotseat? Do we buy it from him for

As I understand it, we are not (yet) registered with the Federal
government as a non-profit organization, which would preclude a
tax-free donation. A taxable donation would mean GNHLUG would have to
pay income tax on the hardware. I'd say the $1 sale would be the best
bet, but I don't know how "legal" such things are, for tax purposes
(i.e., maybe the IRS says you can't do that -- they're not stupid).

Who signed for the MV colo?

It was either Bruce Dawson, or nobody. I believe it was nobody. MV
just said, "Sure, you're a worthy cause, come on in." I think
someone's name went into a file somewhere at MV -- either mine,
Bruce's, or both. We should probably find out, but if we're going to
do the ownership transfer thing, let's do that first so we don't have
to bother MV twice.

As far as the law goes, I have no idea what the current hosting
situation means. What happens if MV gets bought out by BigISP and the
acquisitions team asks, "What's this server doing here?" Is GNHLUG
receiving a taxable gift in the form of services? What's MV's
liability if someone posts legally bad content on liberty? What if
the server sparks a fire and burns down the building?
