For our viewers just joining us: My recent presentation at CentraLUG on "Setting up a Linux small office server" taught me that there is a lot of material -- too much to cover in two hours. So when Bill and Llyod asked me if I could repeat my talk at DLSLUG, that quickly morphed into discussion around the idea of a "small office server installfest". Basically, IT pros show up for a day of learning how to turn a PC with an empty hard disk into an all-in-one Linux server suitable for a small office.

But I've found some places are interested in alternatives, but just don't have the knowledge. So they would (in theory) be interested in this kind of thing. It probably depends on whether they're in it solely for the money or if they also want to provide the best for the customer. I say we assume there will be interest until and unless we have clear evidence to the contrary. :-) >> An extended meeting with an imported expert could be a draw. > > Yes, that would be a great, project, but would having it more central in NH > be even better? A SMB installfest? "small office server installfest" is basically what I'm thinking of here. Whether it should be held in Dartmouth, Manchester, both, or what, I dunno. I'll add a CC for gnhlug-org to see if that yields insight.
