Hi,

I have an odd problem with my serial device, on my dell latitude I run RH linux and I've been in the habit of putting in the new kernels as they come out, on the last update to 2.2.14 I lost the ability to access the modem. (3com megahertz pcmcia 56k cell) When I run wvdial I get "cannot open /dev/ttyS1" Input/output error".

Everything else works fine, at work I connect wireless with a lucent wavelan card and that works great. ( i compile in pcmcia/wavelan when i build), anyway, now I have to reboot to an older kernel to use wvdial which i hate.

I'm sure I did or forgot something stupid but I just can't seem to find it, I have rebuild the 2.2.14 kernel several times to no avail. nothing unusual in dmesg, anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!
-joe
