Well, I'd recomend the IBM thinpads. They tend to be a little more
expensive than the others but if you look around you can get some good
deals. I picked up mine about 6-8 months ago, it does 1024x768, 64Meg,
4Gig, CD and floppy are both built in, I think it was around $1500, it's
one of their i series, 1540 or something like that....

I'd say stay away from Compaq (Sorry, I know there's Dec/Compaq people on
the list), but I've had too many quality problems with them (especially
the expensive ones!). I also know quite a few people that swear by Dell
and Micron.
