As my final comment on this topic, I'd like to point out that I don't
think this is quite the same issue on other kinds of mailing lists. I
believe the issue stems from the fact that a large number of us know
eachother personally, which doesn't often happen on other kinds of lists.
This causes many of us to have side comments that are completely
unrelated to the topic and the group, and that, ultimately, is the source
of the problem.

Thanks! Did you actually count the votes? I said there were ten in one
message, but that was just a guess; and since then 3 additional people
chimed in with a 'VOTE: REPLY-SENDER' message. If the archives are
working, I'd be happy to go back and count the votes.
