If you read the posts off of the Slashdot article regarding the USB-IF,
you'll discover that people realized that the security of the site was very
low. IIRC, the usernames were simply based on some member number that was
posted to the site. The password was, by default, the username. Slashdot
posters starting listing members who had not changed the default password.
There were a large number of these accounts, including Microsoft's. It was
also mentioned that knowing this username/password you could change the
password and also change the contact information. Evidently, some Slashdot
poster thought it would be cute to change the Microsoft contact info to Tux.
Again, IIRC, the posts were encouraging people to mirror the site ASAP,
because the web admins were cracking down on the security holes quickly.
I guess they realized that "Tux" was incorrect and fixed it. If you visit
the Slashdot story again, though, you'll discover that a number of people
have put up mirrors of the "restricted" content.
