All,
I'm looking for software for editing audio files, among other
things. What I want to is 1) rip music from CD's to an audio format
(.au, .wav, .mp3) 2) edit the file to take out leading and trailing
silence 3) (optional) strip the lyric tracks and music tracks apart and
4) burn it back to a CD. The last step I can do with cdrecord and
xcdroast.
My problem stems from the fact that I have Windoze-based software
that can do all of this (except for separating the tracks), but I can
only work one song at a time. When I am finished saving the song that
I'm working on, I have to reboot the machine or it locks up on me. Also,
my CD burner is extreamly unreliable under Windoze. Sometimes it works,
but usually I end up with either blank tracks, static/squealing noises,
or the machine locks up on me. Since I have yet to have any problems
with the burner under Linux, I'm hoping that I can find comperable audio
software. Not to mention that it will bring me one step closer to being
M$-Free ;-)
TIA,
Kenny
PS The problem is NOT that I need more memory. I have 192MB.
