I had not problem installing Star Office, or launching it.  Just ran
the RPMs from the SO disk in my 6.1.  Same thing with Corel.  Yes,
things could be better.  They will be, too.

I don't think they're in business to give away everything, but see my
other message on MS (note the spelling) about their "business
ethics."  THAT's why I berate them.  Ethics matter.

Fortunately, when MS tried to by Intuit (because they couldn't
compete), the Justice department decided competition is a good thing,
and told MS they couldn't.  BTW:

And, GNOME & KDE (which are NOT part of the kernel, different folks)
can win on the desktop.  They should focus on that.  The strength of
the Open Source community is the community.  Each focusing on a single
part (Linux & Co on the kernel, Apache on web services, SAMBA on
Windows interoperability, KDE & GNOME on the desktop, etc).
