Slight correcton, Congress never approved UCITA. UCITA was developed
by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws
(NCCUSL) (43 - 6, 2 abstentions), and passed to the states. It is a
modification of the Uniform Commercial Code. It's also opposed by 26
Attorneys General, the Federal Trade Commisson, ACM, FSF, Software
Engineering Institute, American Society for Quality, Consumer
Federation of America, Society for Information Management, etc, etc,
etc. Basically everyone except the big software companies (led by a
certain company who's initials we can all guess). Virginia and
Maryland have passed it (with mods), Iowa (go buckeyes) passed an
Anti-UCITA bill.

However, I agree with your recommended actions.

thought for the day: A doctor was stranded with a lawyer in a leaky
life raft in shark-infested
waters. The doctor tried to swim ashore but was eaten by the sharks.
The
lawyer, however, swam safely past the bloodthirsty sharks.
"Professional
courtesy," he explained.
