My suspicion is that this is a SCSI drive connected to a controller that
has a "mapping" feature.

If you are brave, disable the mapping feature and try again.  Watch
your BIOS messages for a prompt to type CTRL+A or CTRL+B to get into
the controller setup.

If these are IDE drives, check your LBA settings.
