I have finally taken the necessary steps to insure that the GNHLUG
leadership will remain solid, fluid and maintain the course we are heading.
Shortly after the LBS in April, I realized that I needed to share some of
the duties and responsibilites and also find a person that could be me or
an even better me in the case of illness, vacations, work diversions, etc.
There are several of you that are certainly worthy and talented enough to
fill that role. However, one person has, without coaxing, stepped forward
and started assisting me without knowing that I was looking for exactly the
assistance he was providing me.
Last night, I met with him for over a half hour after the Merrilug meeting
and am absolutely thrilled that he has accepted my request to become Vice
Chairman of the GNHLUG.
I am sure you all will also be very happy that Jeff Smith accepted my
request to fill this role and those of you who know him will agree that he
has the vision, energy, talent, and leadership qualities needed to assist,
or step in as needed to carry on.
Thanks Jeff, now get to work.
On another front, I was able to meet with Mike Ledoux briefly to discuss
the NUN and ideas for the rest of the year. More on this later as we
solidify the plan.
Next, I have decided to make the 2001 LBS formation meeting at the Sheraton
Tara for Wed night, June 28th. I know it is a little more expensive than
our usual meetings, but I think since they are one of the locations being
considered as the next site for the LBS event, we can make some real
valuable decisions while there.
This meeting is important to you if you want input into the event, want to
become a committee Chair or worker, have a talent we need for the Show, or
just want to support the effort of the GNHLUG to provide the best Linux
event on the East Coast.
Please send me your rsvp's as soon as possible. We are getting the meeting
room for free if enough of us eat dinner there. Dinner is at 6:15 and the
meeting will be when we are done with dinner.
We will doing a short critique of the 2000 LBS and making the decisions on
committees, theme, and all the ideas you bring. If you would like your
ideas, suggestions, or anything to do with the next year's event put into
the notebook I am preparing to hand out, please email me what you would
like included.
