With loopback happily running I still get the same error when opening
various programs in X/GNOME.
IMHO, it's strange at how it only happens when I run the X/GNOME
combination. If I'm doing 3 or 4 ttys and running programs in them, no
problems at all. I'm thinking my next step will be to look at GNOME to see
if I can spot any oddities (or else to yank GNOME and reinstall and see if
that solves anything).
