Yes indeed. Bob Sparks <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> recently posted this

The July meeting of the Central NH Linux meeting is on firewalls.
This will be a group discussion, or panel.
It will be held the same place the June meeting was, the Concord
Holiday Inn. Same time: 7pm (1900 hours geek/military).
The same no host dinner before hand (each pays their own way).
This would probably be about 6pm.

That meeting is Wednesday, July 12th.

As a newbie, I don't think it makes much difference. Corel is sound.
Basic configuration is roughly the same; if you want to switch to Red Hat or
something else later, you can do that fairly easily. For the short term it
may be safe to say you'll be on a steep enough learning curve that the
particular distribution won't matter. :-)

XFree86 is a free x86 version of the X Window System, which was developed
at MIT as a graphical protocol which forms the foundation of the GUI. Then
comes the window manager which handles mouse clicks and window size/drawing
function, and finally GNOME or KDE on the very top which does the little
menu button/taskbars and drag and drop functions.
Being this 3-layer modular approach, you can mix and match various
components. There are many commercial implementations of the X Window
System and a slew of free window managers. As to the GNOME/KDE debate, IMHO
it's roughly a tossup. KDE is a bit more polished and stable, but has a
licensing issue and is based on the commercial QT library (QT now has a free
version). GNOME is probably a bit more popular on this side of the Atlantic
(KDE has a lot of European developers) and is free with no licensing issues.
Hope to see you at the meeting on the 12th...
