hello all
ive gotten very close to getting Linux on this little rinky dinky HP600C
notebook,it has an external floppy that linux doesnt see, 105 meg hd, 16
megs Ram. *It also does not have a CDROM but i have a Backpack
Cdrom{parallel port}, and a Ext. Zip.
ive used the peanut Distro. since it is compact, i believe it is a
debian build. i gotten the HD
partitioned /dev/hda1 , and /dev/hda2 {swap}. i have the filesystem
intact, ive loaded lilo
to the /dev/hda boot . recompiled the 2.3.99-pre9 kernel since PCMCIA can be
built in. i know in earlier kernels it was possible to add the PCMCIA
support but i chose to go with the path of least resistance. ive read just
about every paper on Linux and the boot process,{redhat}all the howto's,
man pages , ive gotren it to boot from the PCMCIA Harddisk no prob. but
after "init" runs it dies and says "your machine doesnt have enough memory"
it also complains about the swap disk, 1) can i turn off the swap ? or
should i be using another method to linux on this laptop ? i am wide open
for sugestions/solutions or Critisizm...

if anyone has a better understanding on installing linux on this Minimal
laptop please reply to me. MTIA Rob F.
