Here's a weird one that caught me nastily at a presentation..

I have a ThinkPad 600E running Red Hat 6.1. The key sequence to cycle
the display output through screen/screen+external/external is Fn+F7.
In text mode (e.g., during boot), this works normally -- but as soon as
X starts, it co-opts the key and brings the display back to the screen
only, regardless of the previous state. Repeated presses of the sequence
cause the screen to flicker, but don't cycle the display. As soon as X
is shut down, things go back to normal.

This make my laptop rather useless as a presentation tool. Has anyone
ever heard of this, and (more to the point) know of a solution that will
tell X to leave the flippin' cycle functionality and key sequence alone?
