Hi, This is not directly related to linux (though linux works fine with it), but I thought I'd mention this pretty neat free service in case anyone else was interested. Ureach http://www.ureach.com provides a free service where you get your own 877 (aka 800) number and they give you 30 free "phone access" minutes of use each month. Many things can be done: people can leave you voicemail or a fax via the toll free number; you can get notification of incoming stuff via pager, icq, or email; fax can be viewed (.tiff) & voicemail listened to (.wav) via a web interface; incoming email can be heard as synthesized voice over the phone; you can send outgoing email or fax from the web interface; dial the ureach number and from there dial anywhere (30 min/month free). There are lots of other features I don't yet know about and/or fully grok. I am currently using it as a simple notification system: when I get voicemail at work, a message is sent to my ureach 800 number. I then get an email at my personal ISP indicating someone left a message for me at work. (very convenient on the days I work from home, since I can't forward the calls to home.) There should be plenty of potential to using a service like this to rig up some other fun "applications" under Linux (using, e.g. procmail, wget, etc). Unlike other free web-related services this one's business plan isn't based on advertizing. Best I can see they want people to get hooked on the services so that they will want to buy extra minutes. (which true cheapies like me will never do!)
