  They are also very dependent (perhaps more-so?) by the kernel configuration
profile you built them with.  That is, you'll have better luck if you select
the same CONFIG_* options when you build your modules and kernel.

  FYI, Red Hat includes their kernel configuration files in
"/usr/src/linux/configs/" with their kernel-source package.

  Huh?  The documentation says the opposite:
