Tecnically, you can do this. the /etc/passwd file is backed up to
/etc/passwd- just as the /etc/shadow is backed up to /etc/shadow-. Not
to mention, any *GOOD* sysadmin has a rescue disk handy with a dummy
password file on it ;-)
