I definitely would like to see some steps taken to try to protect privacy, and these
would be a good start. I'd suggest also including an appropriate use policy as part
of the registration procedure, to clearly state that the harvesting of addresses for
spamming is undesirable behavior. Personally, if it seemed still to be a threat
after putting up those fences and notices, I'd then advocate programming some
countermeasures (and I would be willing to sign up to help with that effort, I've got
some ideas for it). But for now I don't think that such extreme measures are
indicated, until a problem is demonstrated to exist.
