Hi All:

I am having a problem printing from RedHat LINUX to a Canon GP200
(Copier/Printer). Here are the specifics...

I can successfully print from my RedHat LINUX 6.1 laptop via a crossover
cable. No changes were made to the Printer (GP200). I was able to print both
an ASCII & PostScript test page via the RedHat printtool.
Here is the printcap statement (it is identical on both RedHat systems)

##PRINTTOOL3## REMOTE laserjet 300x300 letter {} LaserJet Default 1
GP200:\
    :sd=/var/spool/lpd/GP200:\
    :mx#0:\
    :sh:\
    :rm=GP200:\
    :rp=print:\
    :if=/var/spool/lpd/GP200/filter:

I set this particular printer (GP200) using the RedHat printtool, LPR
(Unix) printing. I have also successfully set up this type of Copier/Printer
using SMB on my RedHat 6.1 laptop. I have tried several different filters.

I can ping the GP200 by name and IP address. When I go to print to it via
the RedHat 6.2 systems it will Blink the data light on the printer (GP200)
then nothing. When I check the job log there is NO indication of any print
job.

Further information: My laptop was a DEFAULT RedHat install. The other
RedHat 6.2 was a custom install. This 6.2 system has not yet printed (i.e.,
no other printers have been set up). We had to load the printtool and the
print filters rpms.

I was wondering if it could be a security issue? Could they have higher
security (maybe Host.deny) then my LINUX box? Are there any known printer
issues between RedHat 6.1.and 6.2 ? Does anyone have any ideas or tests I can
do to help troubleshoot this issue. I am planning on loading and testing
RedHat 6.2 on another box in my office and try to reproduce the problem.

                                                                Regards,
                                                            Vince McHugh
