  Well, it was the way the IBM-PC was designed to work, after all.  :-)

  You can actually boot up to four different OSes this way (four slots for a
primary partition), or three if you have an extended partition.

  The limitations of not being able to select your boot partition at boot
time, of not being able to boot from a logical partition, and of only being
able to boot from the first hard disk, are best solved using an enhanced boot
loader/menu installed in the active primary partition on the first disk.  I
use PowerQuest's BootMagic this way myself.
