  How long have you let it sit?  It sounds like it might be trying to
accomplish a reverse DNS or identd/auth lookup.  Give it a minute or two to
timeout those attempts, and maybe it will work.

  Sometimes "netstat" can provide clues.  Try various switches, like "-l"
(listening ports only), "-a" (all ports), "-t" (TCP only), "-p" (PID of owner
process), and "-n" (numeric output only).  Do it on both machines.
