no such behavior here.  I'm reading using Netscape 4.73, btw.  I suspect that it's
either a browser type (or version) or a browser config issue at the system that
behaves anomolously.  BTW, I've just noticed that when I'm reading a message with
attachments, if I click "open attachments" I get a menu list that includes the
body of the message as attachment 0.  I'm guessing that this is the way MIME deals
with message structure, so perhaps there is a backwards compatibility issue with
some older reader(s) ?

I'm copying the reply to the entire list, because there may be additional insights
into the details of mail readers and MIME and such (this list includes a lot of
people who tend to have deep insights into many topics - although not always the
same people (and perhaps not always everyone who thinks they do? :-)).

I'd be interested in knowing the answer to whatever might be causing it.  THANKS!
