Seyon ROCKS!!!!  It is by far my favorite comm app.  Minicom is good, and it's 
useful when X isn't available, which is one downside of Seyon.

For some reason RH stopped shipping Seyon after RH5.0 or 5.2, I don't remember.
It's also a p.i.t.a. to compile for some reason.  However, minicom should work 
fine for you.

If you want to try Seyon, you should be able to easily get the rpms from any 
RH mirror site that still has the 5.0 dist on it.
