I have been pretty impressed with Samsung's SyncMaster line. I have a
SyncMaster 900 at home and love it. 19" tube, clear picture (but not flat).
I paid just above $400 for it a couple years ago. Best of all, they provide
XFree86 mode lines for it.
They now have a "SyncMaster 900 IFT" model that has a flat tube. It is only
rated for 76 Hz refresh at 1600x1200, though. Maybe that would be enough for
you? (Personally, I cannot tell the difference above 75 Hz, but I know
perception of that sort of thing varies from person to person.) Pricewatch
says you can get it for under $400.
