For those who attended my talk at CentraLUG last month, I mentioned
Abiword 0.7.12 was about to be released. You may have noticed it
hasn't, & I figure I'll let everyone know what's happening -
This release was including some new work on Lists (among other
things). However, it turns
out that the lists feature actually causes text loss in export to RTF.
The 0.7.12 was put on hold (they had the binaries available, but
didn't announce), while this was looked at. They (the Abiword
community) have decided to cancel the release until the problem
is patched. They also are awaiting release notes
& a new download site. What I find interesting is the comments of the
Abiword leader (Sam Th) on this:
"I'm sorry about the delay, but losing user data is *not* acceptable."
BTW: They did talk on the list about removing lists from 0.7.12, but
by the time that converstation got started, one person had coded the
fix - it's in testing now, so hopefully 0.7.12 will be out soon.
