It took me from around 8pm until around 3am but I was finally successful.
I found a site (damn, I'm looking for it again so I can put the URL here
but can't remember my exact search terms) which both reviewed the lucent
wavelan cards and stuff and also gave a step by step on how to set it up
in linux... interestingly, the directions required me to download the
latest version of pcmcia-cs from sourceforge, some wavelan stuff from
lucent's wavelan site (http://www.wavelan.com) ... bunzip my bzipped
kernel source ... then cd into the pcmcia directory... run ./make
Configure, ./make all and ./make install..
it said that I had to edit /etc/pcmcia/network.opts and
./etc/pcmcia/config.opts but that didn't seem to be necessary... the big
difference was that when I ran ifconfig and route add I had to refer to
the card as eth0, not wvlan0... all I need to do now is figure out how to
make the ifconfig and route information persistent in my system so I don't
have to run it everytime I put the wavelan card in.. any ideas on that?
If I find the site again, I'll post the URL here...
cheers,
J.
