Ouch - I hadn't been able to download the binaries at the time I sent
the message (slashdotted site without slashdot!), so I hadn't seen the
problems.

I checked the devel list - they're moving to sourceforge:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/abiword/
with the 0.7.12 source, but they don't have it there yet, either.
I'll ask tomorrow on the list waht the status is.
